So far this year, there has not been much to be optimistic about regarding a resurgence of COVID-19 in South Africa. Court rulings and claims costs have both hit insurers hard. Several entities are still coming to grips with regulatory changes over the last year, with new ones set to become effective in a few months. In this update, we discuss these issues, along with the emerging priority risks of cyber and climate change. We also give a roundup of market developments in Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Ghana.
