Thailand in focus: What's new in non-life — September 2026

23 October 2026

For this issue of our Thailand non-life insurance market newsletter, we cover performance through June 30 and developments through Aug. 31. We discuss the latest regulatory updates and initiatives, as well as market news, including information on new products, distribution channels, other insurer initiatives, key appointments, and mergers and acquisitions.

Highlights:

  • Overall, direct premium rose 3% to THB 150.4 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with the same period a year earlier.
  • Premiums for motor, industrial all risks (IAR) and health all rose, partially offset by decreases in fire and other claims categories.
  • Continued year-over-year increase in car sales supported higher demand for motor insurance, which in turn contributed to growth in direct premiums.
  • The earthquake and flood last year raised customer awareness of property insurance protection, encouraging greater uptake and conversion of coverage, and contributing to an increase in IAR premiums.
  • No major catastrophe events in Thailand in the first half of 2026 resulted in significantly lower insurance service expenses compared with 2025 H1, primarily due to lower claims incurred.
